I’ve met my couples in some pretty interesting ways over the years, but how I met these two was a one-of-a-kind experience. I met Jing and Rob on a styled wedding shoot they were modeling for back in February. It was a six-hour long session and, of course, we had a lot of time to talk. I leaned that they were engaged and were planning to elope in Ireland later this year!
We talked all things wedding the entire shoot and I discovered that they hadn’t had engagement photos taken yet, so I decided to throw my hat in the ring and see what they thought about me shooting their engagement session! Much to my delight, they were all in.
We ended up planning their desert engagement session together and picked Vantage in Eastern Washington as a location. We planned two looks for Jing: an organic and earthy dress from the World Market and a second elegant look from Reformation. Both were beautifully complemented by bouquets that talented Busara Flora created specifically for this session.
It all sounds wonderful, right? But once we got to the location, we were met with frigid temperatures. We were chilled to the bone in the first 10 minutes of the session and had to take warm-up breaks every so often and sit in the car. That said, I’m so thankful to Jing and Rob for braving the cold and making all those images look so effortless!
If you like beautiful love stories, here is a little background on this couple’s relationship:
They met in college in Bellingham in 2011 through a mutual friend and consistently saw each other during group gatherings and events. Every time Jing saw him, he always managed to put a small smile on her face, although she’s still not sure if it was due to his humor or if it was his dorky bowl cut at the time, reminiscent of the Beatles in the 1960s. After getting to know each other over the quarter, they became very close and started hanging out almost every day!
Last May, around their six-year anniversary, Jing and Rob took a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico together with some of their close friends. At the end of the trip, Rob took Jing on a sunset cruise to the secluded cove of Las Caletas. Along the beach, there was a candle-lit table with tropical palms swaying overhead. There Rob asked the photographer to take a jumping photo of them on the beach, and right as he landed, he got down on one knee and asked Jing to marry him. Isn’t that the most romantic thing ever!? Of course she said yes, and now they’re excited to share a lifetime of happiness and joy together.
I enjoyed capturing the love of those two and I can’t wait to see them become one family soon! Thanks so much for involving me in such a special time in your lives, Jing and Rob.
