There is a lot I adore about this shoot, but the right place to start would probably be the loving couple in the photographs you’re about to see. I met Linda and Alex back in December when they were looking for a person to capture their intimate wedding in May of 2018. We chatted for a bit and after a few back-and-forth emails, I ended up being their wedding photographer! Simple as that!
I always try to get to know my couples as best I can and make the entire process of working with me really personal. I believe it helps capture photographs that are true to the couple and super authentic. The whole process starts with engagement session planning, and by the time we got to the actual engagement shoot, these two were totally ready.
The first thing that pleasantly surprised me about their shoot was the decision to include their two adorable cats! Frank and Gary are 12-year-old rag doll cats and they’re also brothers. They’re so sweet.
We initially planned to capture this part of the session on a nearby rooftop, but that day ended up being SO sunny and hot, we would’ve captured nothing but squinty eyes and blown-out white backgrounds! Nobody needs that in their engagement photos, so we decided to stay home for this part and, oh boy, those images turned out amazing! Alex and Linda have a beautiful, luminous modern living space that’s just perfect for photos. We got some pictures right at the front staircase that you see right when you walk in and they ended up being my favorites.
After playing around with Frank and Gary, we went to Discovery Park to capture two more looks Linda and Alex picked for their pictures: one with a more casual picnic vibe, and another that was romantic enough for the grand sunset finale.
The beautiful green field nearby and all the white flowers really accented their photos. After taking more static in-home pictures, it was so fun being outside to capture a bit of movement!
As the sun started getting lower and lower, we made our way to the beach for the last look and some sunset/twilight photos. Of course, that was a perfect time to pop a bottle of champagne (which I gladly helped finishing, but that is another story, off the record). It was such a wonderful little celebration!
I loved every little detail about Linda and Alex’s engagement session. Watching them interact was amazing! They both are so loving and caring, and they’re such a perfect fit for each other. I’m so so excited that I’m the one who gets a chance to capture this meaningful part of their lives and I can’t wait for their big day. It’s coming up soon!
