It’s always a pleasure photographing fellow artists and this time it was an absolutely special thing. I met Jules two years ago and what now is a friendship started from me emailing her and asking if I can second shoot for her! At that point in my life, I have never shot weddings before and all I wanted is to learn! I wasn’t sure she would want me in her team. I was a girl that just recently moved to the US, without event a decent portfolio and a dream to become a professional photographer. Boy, I was wrong. Not only she was willing to help me get experience, but she also ended up being the sweetest kindest person I now know. I’ll be forever grateful for everything this girl has done for me and I truly cherish our friendship! Jules, if you read it, I just want you to know how much I appreciate and love you 🙂
We started exchanging anniversary sessions last year, she would take some photos of me and my hubby and I would take some photos of her and Brian. We usually treat it like an experiment, trying new technics on each other. This time, I decided to try photographing the whole session on film only and also trying new film stock. It was a little scary and weird to not be able to see the photos on the back of my camera but I’m glad I did it and I’m loving the results!
If there are any photogs reading it and want some technical details, here they are. I shot with two film cameras – medium format Mamiya 645AFd and 35mm Canon EOS-1. I used two different film stocks – Fuji 400h and Kodak Porta 400. I’ve edited all the images so they match, but you can still see the difference between two different film stocks, especially in the color of Jules’ dress and Brian’s shirt. If you have any questions, please reach out, I would love to chat!
